Barcelona defender Dani Alves believes that the team would be "more competitive" if they signed Neymar this summer.
Santos have already rejected offers of €18 million and €20m from the Blaugrana, who have been the most active in their interest towards the Brazil international.
However, Dani Alves is still optimistic that Barca can land his compatriot as he believes Neymar could ease the pressure on Lionel Messi and help the club be more competitive.
He said: "It would be a relief if Neymar signed because Messi would be helped greatly.
"The team would be more competitive for sure.
"They play in different positions, so I don't think there would be any problem there.
"Neymar is a humble guy."
The 21-year-old’s contract expires in July 2014 but as of January he could sign a pre-contract for a move to another club, in which case the Peixe would not receive any compensation.
Santos own 55% of Neymar’s economic rights and are holding out for a higher transfer fee, with his buyout clause set at €65m.
